MR Imaging in Meniscal Injury of Knee Joint: Correlation with Operative Findings
Abstract
MR features of meniscal abnormalities and associated ligament injury were reviewed and retrospectively correlated with operative findings of ten patients(20 menisci) for evaluation of usefulness of MR imagings in preoperative diagnosis of
meniscal
injury
The sensitivity specificity, and accuracy of MR imagings in meniscal injury by operative confirmation of meniscal state were 100%, 75%, and 80%. There was good correlation between MR imagings and operative fingings in associated ligament injuries
such
as posterior cruciate ligament, anterior cruciate ligament, medial collateral ligament, and lateral collateral ligament rupture.
These results suggest that MR imaging in the preoperative evaluation of suspected meniscus and ligament injury of the knee joint is very useful imaging modality.
